OPEN LETTER FROM TBSSB LEADERSHIP TO OUR TRAVELERS

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!  What a wonderful season the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers & Boarders have had so far – due in large part to our fantastic members – and it’s not over yet!  Almost every one of our trips either sold out or added more spots as the demand exceeded our initial supply!  Wow!  We sincerely appreciate all our travelers, both our regular “hooked” members and our newbies. You put your faith in us to deliver awesome trips. We’re confident we succeeded.

Our Club also hosted a boatload of other fun activities, as we do every year. We continued to hold monthly parties, always open to the public, and a couple of those exceeded our typical fun-level and past attendance, such as the Halloween Party at Bill Jackson’s Shop for Adventure, and the January Party at the Hofbrauhaus. All were great fun! Besides our regular monthly parties, we also held two bike and blade events, a kayaking and BBQ event, a “Girls Night Out”, attended a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game, and held a bowling party. Besides being great fun, these social events provided members several opportunities to see each other again.

Every so often, it's important to distinguish our CLUB from a business. Tampa Bay Snow Skiers & Boarders is not owned and operated by a business.  It’s a "non-profit", all-volunteer club, run entirely by dedicated volunteers who participate because they love it! This club has been going strong for almost 50 years! That longevity is a testament to the dedication of our members and leaders, and to the quality of the events and trips we provide season after season.

We would be nothing without you, our travelers, which makes TBSSB the greatest Club in the world. Our members are not clients or customers, they're family and friends! Plus, you provide valuable input to our planning for future seasons, which never seems to end, and you tell us what we’re doing well and where we can improve.  We’re constantly using your input to become better trip leaders.  Again, thank you!  We’re here for you and will continue to do our best to provide great trips to places you want to go!

With that in mind, we are already hard at work on next season's trips and will soon be working on planning the social events too.  The FSC (Florida Ski Council) trip destinations are confirmed to be Big Sky, Park City, and Cortina, Italy! We will post details on our website as they become available, but we are already accepting deposits, only for these 3 trips.  See the website and send in your deposits soon to reserve spots on these trips. Trip applications to come.

2018/2019 MULTI-MOUNTAIN PASS

Want to do more than 1 ski trip next season? Ever checked out a multi-mountain pass vs. on-mountain costs?

TBSSB is offering 2 great passes, the EPIC and the IKON, AND, we are planning trips to many of their resorts.

EPIC PASS - Available for Vail, Park City, Telluride, Breckenridge & Beaver Creek. Price increase after April 15, 2018. Get the EPIC PASS

IKON PASS - Available for Banff, Big Sky, Snowmass/Aspen & Snowbird/Alta. Price increase after April 9, 2018. Get the IKON PASS

TBSSB is planning trips to most of these destinations.

Purchase through the TBSSB website and receive a $50 credit towards your next club ski trip. Children 12 and under are not eligible for trip credit.

Both passes are also good for other destinations that TBSSB is not traveling to this coming season, but if you should happen to travel there without the club (heaven forbid), your pass would be good there too.

Frequent Traveler Rewards Program

Mountain View Sunset Flight As many of you have heard, during the 2005 – 2006 ski season we started something new and those who frequently travel with us each ski season will be the benefactors, as well as those who decide (after reading about this program) to take more than one trip with us each year. We started our very own Frequent Traveler Rewards Program.

One of its goals is to attract those travelers who may be considering either doing (if you're so lucky) your second and subsequent trip on your own or with another ski club. We really do want you to always stay with us, and it shows with this rewarding program for our Club members!

It works like this: Each traveler who goes on more than one organized TBSSB trip (ski or non-ski) (led by a trip leader, with all monies paid in full to TBSSB) with the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers & Boarders each season (the Club's fiscal year) will qualify for a cash reward as determined by the Board in April of each season for each trip after the first. This Club member must be in good standing to be able to collect this reward (meaning no monies owed to the Club). Sunset Flight

Each frequent traveler will have to submit within a two (2) month window (postmarked from May 1 - June 30) the approved TBSSB form to collect any reward. The PDF of this Frequent Traveler Rewards Program form is only available during this time. The rules for this rewarding program are at the bottom of the form. Please follow them to the letter in order to qualify for your reward.

And here's a "Thank You" for all of those skiers/boarders and non-skiers who have been our "Frequent Travelers" each fantastic ski season with the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers & Boarders! We love to have you on several of our trips! So stay with us now and in the future!

Tampa Bay Snow Skiers and Boarders

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Do I need to know how to ski to go on a ski trip?
A.Definitely not. We have a number of members who travel with us every year and are not skiers. Approximately 15-20% of our travelers are "newbies" and have gotten into this sport by going on ski trips with us and learning how. Ski lessons are highly recommended.

Q.I'm just a beginner skier, will I have to ski by myself?
A.Definitely not. Every ski trip going out has skiers from virtually all skill levels. By attending the monthly Club parties and individual pre-trip parties you will get to know some of your fellow travelers and can seek out others with your skill level. Usually, after arrival at your destination and you begin skiing, those of similar skill find each other.

Q.I'm traveling alone, do I have to find a roommate?
A.No. We'll match you up with a same-sex roommate or you can pay an additional fee and have a room of your own. Most trips are based on double occupancy.

Q.The trip I wanted to go on is full, what should I do?
A.The options you have here are: Find a second choice trip to sign up with or contact the trip leader from your first choice list and get put on their "Wait List" or do both. However, be sure to pay close attention to cancellation dates for all trips you apply.

Q.Can I snowboard on all Club trips?
A.Maybe. Most ski areas welcome snowboarders, however, some don't. Check with the Trip Leader for a trip you are considering, before signing up. They will know.

Q.How can I pay for my trip?
A.Write us a check. We will also take cash; receipt provided. Your credit card is also accepted, contact your trip leader for details.

Q.Are lift tickets included in the price of the trips?
A.No. Lift tickets are additional. Experience has shown that we can't find a "one-size-fits-all" lift ticket to include in the package price. Some people ski only 3 days, some insist on skiing 6 days. By not including lift tickets, everyone pays the same price for the basic trip. You can, however, buy your lift ticket through your Trip Leader in advance and if there is a group discount available, any savings will be passed on to you.

Q.Do all trips stay in hotels?
A.No. Some trips will stay in condominiums. Amenities will vary so check with your Trip Leader. Typically condo's are based on a quad occupancy.

Q.Will I have to buy ski equipment before I go on a trip?
A.No. Trip Leaders make arrangements with ski equipment rental companies to rent skis, poles, and boots to our travelers, usually at a discounted rate. Check with your Trip Leader for details.

Q.How can I become more involved with the Club?
A.Check with any Trip Leader or Board Member, if you would like to become a Trip Leader. Plus, there are a number of other areas that need assistance from time to time and don't require the obligations of leading a trip.

Q.I don't want to overlook something, what should I pack for my trip?
A.Over the years we have compiled this checklist of things to take along. You can add to this list as you need to, but this is a pretty good list of basics. If you are not sure what an item might be (what the heck is a gaiter?), talk with your Trip Leader or any other Club Member. Ski Club Members LOVE to talk skiing, this could be a great "ice-breaker" to meet new friends.
