The Resort of Jackson Hole (www.jacksonhole.com)
is one of the hottest destinations for skiers and non-skiers alike. In
addition to the world class skiing, the town of Jackson has easy access
to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park where you can
experience the most spectacular scenery while snowmobiling, cross
country skiing, dog sled rides and sleigh riding through herds of elk.
Other activities also include snow-coach tours to Yellowstone’s Old
Faithful and a snowshoe trek under the spires of Grand Teton National
Park. But there is more; check out The Elk Refuge, Paragliding, Ice
Skating, Tubing Park, indoor climbing gym, and the requisite two-step
lesson at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar (a true testimony to the west)!
We will be flying into the Jackson airport, which
is 10 quick miles from town. The town of Jackson was founded by beaver trappers
in the 1800’s, and that pioneer flavor remains as one of its most charming
aspects. Wildlife is abundant now as it was in those early days with the
National Elk Refuge located just outside of town. Once you are ready to
wind down for the day, Jackson’s 100 bars and restaurants have something for
everyone from Chuckwagon Cookouts to 5 star dining. Jackson is also known for
its 25 art galleries featuring all the big names in Western art.
We will be staying at the charming Parkway Inn (www.parkwayinn.com),
which is located just 3 blocks from the Historic Town Square. Your stay at the
Parkway Inn does include continental breakfast daily, door front shuttle pick
up, and full use of the exercise room, pool, spa and sauna. See location map and
hotel photos below.

But the reason you
really want to go on this trip is THE MOUNTAIN! Jackson Hole is
comprised of 2 mountains: Rendezvous and Apres Vous, covering a
total of 2,500 acres, 10% beginner, 40% intermediate and 50%
advanced terrain. The base elevation is 6,311 ft (lowest base
elevation in the US), summit elevation is 10,450 ft making the 4,139
ft of vertical rise the longest continuous rise in the country.
Jackson Hole averages 456 inches of snow per season and also boasts
22 miles of machine groomed terrain. For the snowboarders, Apres
Vous has a full sized terrain park and a super-pipe served by a
rope–tow lift. Here’s an added benefit: you can now download the
trail map to your Garmin GPS
http://www.jacksonhole.com/info/mtn.maps.asp . Construction of
the new aerial tram (pictured at right) is complete.
See more photos of the tram at
http://www.tram-formation.com/ . Uphill capacity has more than
doubled from 300 to 650 people per hour. Finally, there will be an
optional one-day trip to Grand Targhee, west of Jackson Hole. Grand
Targhee is known for superb snow conditions, open ski slopes and
advanced runs.
Jackson Hole
Resort has a strong environmental policy and purchases renewable
energy credits that offset 100% of their energy usage. Details at
